AAMU to host 3rd Fennessee on disabilities

Alabama A&M University will host its third annual symposium focusing on current and relevant issues related to persons living with disabilities on Friday, April 29th.

The two-hour William T. Fennessee Symposium will be held on the AAMU campus in the Agricultural Research Center auditorium at 1 p.m. The program is sponsored by AAMU's Rehabilitation Counseling Program with planning assistance from the Rehabilitation Counseling Program's advisory board.

Alabama A&M University announce new chief of police

Alabama A&M University has selected a woman with more than two decades of law enforcement experience to serve head its Department of Public Safety.

A recently retired Assistant Chief of Police with the Milwaukee Police Department, Monica Ray served the city as a law enforcement officer for more than 25 years.  Ray also served as an adjunct professor in the College of Professional Studies at Marquette University.

Police: Man attacked downtown

Huntsville police are looking for two men who they said tried to rob a man in an alley.

It happened at about 2:00 Thursday morning, near Mason's Pub, downtown.

According to Huntsville police, the victim was in the alley next to the bar when two men approached him and held him up with a knife. A fight started and the men allegedly cut the victim's arms.

The victim managed to get away, ran to Humphrey's just around the corner and employees there called authorities.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to be ok.

Police said the suspects didn't get away with any money. Police did not release a description of the suspects.

ADTRAN hosts "senior design showcase" for regional Universities

ADTRAN is hosting students and faculty from Auburn, Mississippi State, Missouri University of Science and Technology, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, the University of Alabama, and the University of Alabama, Huntsville, for a two-day "Senior Design Showcase" event.

The event will be held Thursday, April 14th from 10 am to 7:00 pm, and Friday, April 15th from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

LEAP, Oakwood University's adult degree completion program, will host a general public information session on Tuesday, April 19, 6:00-7:00 p.m., at Huntsville-Madison County Public Library's main branch auditorium. Adults 25 years and older will be able to learn how to finish their college degrees, by taking classes only one night a week.
