Bass tournament held for Sparkman Baseball | Community Spirit
The Diamond Club is sponsoring the first annual Sparkman High School Baseball Bass Tournament to help the team meet their budget.
The tournament will be start from Wheeler Lake’s Ingalls Boat Launch on September 7. Blast off will be at 6 a.m. or safe daylight, and weigh in will be at 2 p.m. Entry fees are $100 per boat, with a limit of two people per boat, and an optional $10 Big Bass per person.
All participants must sign the roster by 5:45 a.m. Each team must have a valid Alabama fishing license and have their boat equipped with Coast Guard safety devices. All fishing must be done from the boat, and the tournament will continue rain or shine.
Five bass per boat will be weighed, with the winners being determined by overall weight. All fish must be a foot long (closed mouth) and alive at weigh in. One pound will be deducted for short fish, and one pound will be deducted for each minute the participant is late to weigh in. Any participants who haven’t weighed in by 2:05 p.m. will be disqualified.
Payout will be based on the number of participating boats. Based on fifty boats or more, first place would be $1000, second would be $500, third $250, fourth $200, fifth $175 etcetera. Big Bass will pay 80% of pot collected.
