Bond set for couple accused of starving children | Crime

Bond is set for a Huntsville charged with three counts of torture/willful abuse of a child. Jose Cassiano Vargas, 23, and Norma Garcia, 23, are both being held on $90,000 bond.

Police say they found three children at the couple's home on Eunice Street locked in a bedroom and showing signs of malnourishment. Officers say the children were severely abused.

Officers first went to the home to investigate a call about a hit and run accident. Vargas and Garcia were taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment for injuries from the accident before going to jail.

We're told the two boys and girl are all under 6 years old. They are now with DHR.
