City, county leaders band together for new energy code | News
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Leaders from Huntsville, the City of Madison and Madison County announced a new partnership Friday, implementing a new energy code for new buildings.
Beginning Jan. 1, builders across Madison Co. will follow one consistent inspection process that is in line with the new state energy code.
Madison Co. is the first county in the state to form such a partnership.
"It's not only energy efficiency for our citizens and our homes, but it's also savings for our cities and counties because we now don't have to have separate departments out there inspecting, spending money. We can now turn to one organization to help make sure we're in compliance. It is a great day for Madison," said Mayor Troy Trulock.
Officials hope the cooperation between all three jurisdictions will serve as a model for other counties in the state.
