Kitchen Cops; six low performers | News

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- The Applebee's at 3150 North Memorial Parkway scored an 83 with the Madison County Health Department during their last inspection.

Some food temperature problems were reported as the inspector noted raw steak, boiled eggs and corn relish were above the maximum temperature for cold-holding foods. The inspector reported dirty utensils being stored as though they were clean. Applebee's also lost points for not having measurable chorine sanitizer in the dish washing machine.

An 83 for the Chong Wah Express at the Decatur Mall. A Morgan County Health inspector reported employees eating and drinking while working and that they found a worker's drink on the ice bin.

The RaceWay on South Memorial Parkway scored an 84. A Madison County health inspector reported finding chicken tenders, collards and corn too cold, below the mandated hot-holding food temperature to prevent bacterial growth.

The Morgan County Health Department handed AMF River City Lanes in Decatur an 80. Three critical violations reported at the bowling alley, including a cold-hold food temperature problem.

Taqueria Guanajuato in Albertville scored an 83 with the Marshall County Health Department. It makes two straight times the restaurant scored below 85, which means they remain on the health department's reinspection schedule. The health inspector docked the restaurant for some thawing meat being contaminated by utensil washing, and for failing to sanitize utensils.

The Tienda Guatemalteca Bakery in Albertville scored a 76. The health inspector reported all bakery equipment needed cleaned, and that they discovered a toothbrush on a stock shelf next to food.

Super Mercado la Popular in Albertville improved during their reinspection, rising from an 82 to a 94 this time.
