HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Two residents were forced out of their home after an overnight fire in northwest Huntsville.
The fire broke out at a two-story house on Trail Ridge Road near Dry Creek Drive around 12:45 a.m. Thursday morning. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find flames shooting through the roof.
It took about 45 minutes for five fire crew units and a ladder truck to extinguish the fire. Fire officials said the home is a total loss.
Two people live in the house but were not home when the fire started.
One of the residents, Kenneth Odour, said he and his roommate are tenants in the house. Odour said his roommate was cooking late Wednesday night and stepped out to go to Walmart. When he returned, the house was on fire, according to Odour.
Odour said he was in the process of moving to a different home in Huntsville.
Investigators are looking into an exact cause.
