Huntsville prepares for New Year's ball drop
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Huntsville is preparing to celebrate the start of the New Year with a ball drop.
Friday morning, workers at Big Spring Park raised the ball that will drop Monday night and ring in 2013.
The ball will be raised 50 feet in the air and is made of at least 2,000 LED light bulbs.
There will also be a fireworks show.
Terrame Spa is hosting the free event, but the goal is to try to raise money for Huntsville's "Operation Green Team."
The group strives to make Huntsville more environmentally conscious.
