Hammers game proceeds to go to the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund

The Hammers will be on the road to take on the Steelhawks @Lehigh Valley, Pa this Saturday. You can see all the action of the Hammers Saturday night on Ustream at 6:00pm!

On Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the first ever Alabama Hammers breast cancer awareness game as the Hammers return home. The foot-ball players will be sporting a new look, pink jerseys! The special game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off to fans after the game. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation. The Hammers also have a special “Fight on Hammer” pink T shirt with proceeds also going to Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation.

Additionally, the first 500 fans who bring an item for breast cancer patients to the game - such as scarves, socks, hats, Kleenex, etc.  will receive a miniature pink football compliments of Huntsville Mercedes Benz and the Hammers

Olympic gold medalist to visit Alabama A&M

An Olympic champion is visiting the Tennessee Valley this week.

Swimmer Cullen Jones is coming to the Alabama A&M University Student Health and Wellness Center on Thursday, April 18th.

Jones will speak with students, sign autographs and conduct swim lessons for local kids.The event starts at 12:00 p.m..

In the spirit of Healthy Huntsville, Mayor Tommy Battle and his department will head out on a 1-mile walk in downtown Huntsville today, March 27, at 4:30 p.m.  Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early wearing good walking shoes!

Prior to the City’s “Department Head Walk,” Mayor Battle and the Parks & Recreation department will hold a brief News Conference to present the new Healthy Huntsville downtown walking routes.

The department has created a new map for citizens showing 1, 2, 3, and 5 mile routes, and they have painted arrows on the sidewalks to help walkers find their way

See you this afternoon, March 27, at 4:30 p.m., Big Spring Park East, Church Street, by the “red bicycle” in front of the YMCA.

College football forecasts - week 10

It's week 10 of college football.  Looks like another great week of games.  And a pretty nice Saturday weather-wise for the games of local interest.  

Alabama has the marquee matchup, travelling to Baton Rouge to take on LSU in a night game in Death Valley.  The winner of this one is in the driver's seat to win the West and get a slot in the SEC Championship Game.  It will be the 3rd time the Tide and Tigers have met in the last 12 months.

Hobbs Island Regatta this weekend

The Tennessee River will be filled with rowers this weekend.

The 15th annual Hobbs Island Regatta is Saturday, October 20th from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. It's the only head race head in Alabama every year. More than 150 teams from 15 different collegiate, junior and adult rowing clubs will be attending.

The event headquarters is at 1000 Hobbs Island Road, at the Madison County Community Boathouse.

The host club for the Hobbs Island regatta is Rocket City Rowing Club which will have both junior and adult boats racing.
